Worked examples and how to read the result

A crossfade overlaps time instead of adding silence between clips.

Blend two five-second clips

Example input
Two clips of exactly 5 seconds each; crossfade 1 second.
Expected result
Approximately 9 seconds of joined audio.

The second clip starts one second before the first ends: 5 + 5 − 1 = 9 seconds. Frame rounding can introduce a very small difference.

Use zero crossfade when preserving end-to-end timing is more important than a blended transition.

How Audio Joiner & MP3 Merger works

Combine audio clips into one continuous recording. Add at least two files, move them into the intended order and choose WAV or MP3 output. The browser decodes supported inputs and joins their sample data locally; input codec support depends on the browser.

A crossfade blends the end of a clip with the start of the next. The overlap is bounded by half the length of each neighboring clip so short clips are not completely consumed. Because the clips overlap, the merged duration is shorter than their summed source durations. Zero crossfade places them directly end to end.

The joining workflow uses a forty-four-point-one-kilohertz sample rate and at most two output channels. Mono is duplicated when combined with stereo; multichannel inputs use their first two channels. Compressed inputs are limited separately from decoded audio, because a small compressed file can expand substantially in memory. Listen across every transition and retain the originals.

How to use Audio Joiner & MP3 Merger

  1. 1. Add audio clips

Choose at least two supported audio files. You can add more files before starting the export.

  2. 2. Set the clip order

Use the move-up and move-down buttons or remove clips that should not be included.

  3. 3. Choose transitions and format

Set a crossfade between zero and five seconds. Choose uncompressed WAV or MP3 at 192 kilobits per second.

  4. 4. Join and preview

Press Join audio, listen to the completed recording and download it when the sequence is correct.

Key features and technical specifications

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge MP3 files online?

Add the MP3 files, arrange them and press Join audio. Choose MP3 output to download one merged recording.

Can I mix different audio formats?

Yes, when the browser can decode them. The decoded audio is resampled to a shared rate before joining.

Why is the joined duration shorter?

Crossfades overlap neighboring clips. Disable the crossfade for a direct end-to-end sequence.

Does joining preserve the original MP3 bytes?

No. Sources are decoded and the result is encoded again. MP3 output uses lossy compression.

Why can a small input exceed the memory limit?

Compressed sound expands into samples during decoding. The tool limits decoded audio to 128 MB to bound memory use.

Are all surround channels preserved?

No. The tool supports at most two output channels and uses only the first two channels from a multichannel source.
