Worked examples and how to read the result

Printed dimensions and digital application instructions must be checked separately.

Prepare a US printed photo sheet

Example input
US printed preset: 2 × 2 inches; suitably framed original portrait.
Expected result
A 600 × 600 pixel JPEG and an A4 sheet containing two-inch-square copies.

Two inches at 300 pixels per inch equals 600 pixels. Print the PDF at 100% and check the full official photo rules.

A crop guide does not certify head size, expression, lighting or acceptance.

How Passport Photo Maker & Print Sheet works

Prepare a printed passport-style photo from a suitable original portrait. Choose a US two-inch square, UK thirty-five by forty-five millimeter printed preset, or custom dimensions. Adjust zoom and horizontal or vertical placement while inspecting the live crop.

The dotted head guide is a positioning aid rather than a biometric measurement. It is not a face detector and does not verify expression, lighting, head size, photo age or background acceptability. The tool does not retouch faces or replace backgrounds. Consult the linked official guidance for your application and use a new suitable photograph when required.

Download a JPEG with a pixel grid calculated at three hundred pixels per printed inch, or an A4 PDF sheet with repeated photos at the selected physical dimensions. Print the PDF at actual size rather than fit-to-page. Printed dimensions and online application rules are different; for example, UK digital guidance tells applicants not to crop their own photo.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a 2×2 passport photo?

Yes. The US printed preset produces a 600 by 600 pixel JPEG and places photos at two by two inches on the A4 PDF.

Does the tool guarantee acceptance?

No. Dimensions alone do not establish compliance. Expression, lighting, head positioning, background, photo age and application rules also matter.

Are the guides included in the download?

No. The overlay is only for positioning; JPEG and PDF exports contain the cropped photo without the guide.

Can I use this for a UK online application?

The UK preset is for printed photographs. Official UK digital guidance tells applicants not to crop their own photo. Follow the digital application instructions.

How do I print the correct size?

Download the A4 PDF and print at actual size or 100 percent scale. Disable fit-to-page and measure a printed photo.

Does the JPG contain a guaranteed DPI tag?

No. The JPEG has the displayed pixel dimensions. Physical print size is established by the PDF sheet, not a guaranteed JPEG metadata tag.
