Image-only pages require OCR first. Proofread any recognized text before editing or sharing.
How PDF to Word · Editable Text works
Recover editable text from a PDF as a Word DOCX. The tool reads text positions, groups them into lines and creates document paragraphs with approximate font sizes. Each PDF page starts a new Word section so the source page boundaries remain identifiable.
This is a text-first reconstruction rather than an exact layout clone. Pictures, table structure, columns, signatures and precise typography are not preserved. The preview shows extracted reading order so you can identify issues before export. A line that looks correct in the PDF can have an unexpected internal text order.
Image-only scans do not contain extractable text. Run them through Searchable PDF Maker before converting the result here. OCR text also needs proofreading. PDFs up to fifty pages, fifty megabytes and five hundred thousand text characters are supported. Retain the original PDF as a visual reference while editing the DOCX.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF to editable Word?
Load the PDF, inspect the extracted text and download the DOCX. Its paragraphs can be edited in Word or another compatible application.
Will images and tables be preserved?
No. This tool reconstructs text and approximate font sizes. Images, table structure and complex layouts need separate handling.
Can it convert scanned PDFs?
Use Searchable PDF Maker first to create a text layer, then open its result here.
Why is the reading order different?
PDF text is positioned for display rather than stored as Word paragraphs. Columns and unusual text placement can produce a different extracted order.
Are original page breaks retained?
Source pages become separate document sections. The resulting pagination can still change with fonts and application settings.
Does it change the original PDF?
No. It creates a new DOCX locally and leaves the original file unchanged.
