Worked examples and how to read the result
Choose the output format the receiving player supports.
Make an MP4 copy of a supported MOV
Example input
A compatible MOV source; MP4 output; 1080-pixel maximum width; keep audio.
Expected result
H.264 video with an AAC copy of the first source audio stream, if one exists.
The codec is changed by re-encoding. Additional tracks, subtitles and metadata are not copied.
Inspect the result in the intended player before treating conversion as successful for that destination.
How Video Converter · MP4 & WebM works
Convert a supported video source to MP4 or WebM using a local browser media engine. A container such as MOV or MKV can hold different codecs, so its extension alone does not establish whether the contained video can be decoded. Unsupported or damaged sources report an error.
MP4 output uses H.264 video with AAC audio, while WebM output uses VP8 video with Vorbis audio. Choose a maximum width to reduce dimensions while keeping the aspect ratio. The output does not upscale a narrower source. Re-encoding can affect detail, color interpretation and file size, so inspect the complete result.
The export includes the first video stream and optionally the first audio stream. Other audio tracks, subtitles, attachments and source metadata are not copied. Files up to two hundred fifty megabytes are accepted. Mobile processing can be slow or memory constrained; shorter clips and smaller output widths are more practical.
How to use Video Converter · MP4 & WebM
1. Choose the source
Select a supported video file up to 250 MB. The engine inspects its streams before exporting.
2. Choose MP4 or WebM
Use the format supported by the destination player or upload service.
3. Set dimensions and sound
Choose maximum width and compression. Enable Remove audio only when a silent copy is wanted.
4. Convert and check
Play the exported result and test it in its intended destination before deleting any source copy.
Key features and technical specifications
Two explicit output codecs
Identifies the video and audio codecs instead of offering an ambiguous extension change.
Aspect-ratio-aware resizing
Limits output width without intentionally enlarging smaller sources.
Local output verification
Checks the encoded file for a video stream before offering the download.
Practical use cases
Convert a compatible MOV clip
Export H.264 MP4 for a destination that does not accept the original container.
Prepare a WebM demo
Produce a WebM copy for an application that explicitly supports it.
Make a silent demonstration
Convert the clip while removing its first audio track.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert MOV to MP4?
Yes, when the local engine supports the source codecs. Choose MP4 output and convert the file.
Can I convert MKV or WebM to MP4?
Supported sources can be re-encoded to H.264 MP4. A container extension does not guarantee that every codec variant is supported.
Does changing format preserve quality exactly?
No. This workflow re-encodes the video and audio. Inspect detail, motion and sound in the result.
Are multiple audio tracks retained?
No. Only the first video stream and optional first audio stream are exported.
Why did subtitles disappear?
Subtitle streams and attachments are not copied by this converter. Keep the original when those streams are needed.
Will every MP4 play on every device?
No. Compatibility also depends on codecs, profile, resolution and the destination player. Test the downloaded file where you will use it.

Videos up to 250 MB. Target size is an estimate, not a guaranteed cap. Processing can take several minutes, especially on mobile. Only the first video and optional first audio track are exported; subtitles and metadata are not copied. The media engine downloads when you begin; your file stays on your device.
